Overview

MMB's RapidSE firmware and associated tools enable the development of Zigbee Smart Energy (SE) compatible devices. We offer two streams of RapidSE firmware:

  • RapidSE Devices is intended to be used in devices that connect to a Smart Meter (aka ESI). Unless you are developing a Smart Meter, this is the firmware that you will be using in your product. It has been used in In-Home Displays, Load Controllers, Thermostats, Solar microinverters, and more. This firmware was developed against the SE 1.1b specifications.
  • RapidSE ESI can be used to form a Zigbee SE network and simulate the Smart Meter. Many of our customers (and numerous electric utilities) have reported that it's easier to use this firmware and our desktop software to test their SE devices than it is to use a development version of a Smart Meter.
Each build of firmware has its own desktop software, so you will need to download RapidSE Desktop Devices and RapidSE Desktop ESI. When you launch the software for the first time, it will prompt you to send some registration information to us and we will respond with your license files.
