Do I need to complete any FCC certification testing for my product, or can I rely on the RapidConnect Module's existing modular approval?
Our hardware has modular approval according to the FCC regulations for intentional emissions. In other words, our modules have been tested at their maximum transmit power to verify that the emissions do not exceed the amounts deemed to be acceptable by the FCC. However, when our module is co-located with other radios (e.g. WiFi and Bluetooth) that are transmitting at the same time, the overall RF output of the device may exceed the FCC limits.
If your device includes multiple wireless radios (i.e. co-located transmitters), it will be necessary to test the complete device to verify the combined effect of those radios. Talk to an MMB Account Manager to learn more about how to complete the certification for a device featuring the RapidConnect Module co-located with other radios.
In addition to this testing for intentional emissions, all digital devices are subject to testing for unintended radiators. It is not possible for a module provider to achieve “modular approval” for unintended emissions; the final product must be tested in its entirety. For this testing, the transmitter (i.e. the MMB module) will be enabled but not transmitting.
