Is the serial library capable of detecting and reporting overrun, parity, and framing errors on the UART interface?
Serial connection errors are handled by the underlying mechanism used to manage the serial port (which is platform specific), and is not handled by the serial library.
The only mechanism for error checking is the checksum.
