This page shows the zigbee features that are supported by the RapidConnect Lighting & Sensor application. If you are looking for a description of the pinout or the hardware that is built in to the RapidConnect Lighting & Sensor Evaluation Board, you can view those details on the Hardware Integration page.

Supported Clusters

The RapidConnect Lighting & Sensor firmware supports all of the mandatory Clusters and Attributes that are required to join a GE ControlScope or HA 1.2 network as a Multi-Endpoint device, featuring endpoints for a Dimmable Light, Occupancy Sensor, and Illuminance Measurement Sensor.

Endpoint 22 (0x16): Dimmable Light Endpoint

  • Server Clusters (HA1.2)
    • Basic (0x0000)
    • Identify (0x0001)
    • Groups (0x0004)
    • Scenes (0x0005)
    • On Off (0x0006)
    • Level Control (0x0008)
  • Server Clusters (GE)

    • Commissioning Cluster (0x0015)

    • Ballast Configuration Cluster (0xFC01)

  • Client Clusters (HA1.2 and GE)

    • OTA Upgrade (0x0019)

    • Time (0x000A)

Endpoint 23 (0x17): Occupancy Sensor Endpoint

  • Server Clusters
    • Basic (0x0000)
    • Identify (0x0001)
    • Groups (0x0004)
    • Occupancy Sensing Cluster (0x0406)
  • Client Clusters
    • n/a

Endpoint 24 (0x18): Light Sensor Endpoint

  • Server Clusters
    • Basic (0x0000)
    • Identify (0x0001)
    • Groups (0x0004)
    • Illuminance Measurement Cluster (0x0400)
  • Client Clusters

Other Features

The firmware supports the following features that are mandatory for operation on a GE ControlScope network and recommended for operation on any HA 1.2 or zigbee 3.0 network:

Auto-join

Upon powering on, the device will automatically seek out a network that has permitted joining.

Factory Reset Button

The firmware has a specific pin allocated as a button input to enable the use to trigger a Factory Reset, which will clear all network settings and configuration parameters from the device. This will be used in any case where the installer/technician needs to remove the device from the network or prompt it to return to its factory default settings. The lighting adapter has many settings stored in "non-volatile" memory so they are not lost when power is shut off. This is done on purpose - otherwise, a quick power failure would cause huge headaches for the building manager or technician! Here is an example of one scenario that is helped by a reset button: in larger deployments, there will be multiple zigbee networks (multiple WACs, in the case of a ControlScope network). If more than one network is "permitting joining" (i.e. allowing new devices to join the network), then it's possible for your lighting device to join to the "wrong" network. This can be confusing for the technician; they may have a specific network hierarchy in mind, eg. intending to join all units in one region of the building to Network 1 and all units in a different region to Network 2. Using the "Factory Reset" feature, the technician can restore your device adapter to its factory default "network joining" mode so it can join the correct network.
