Install Codes
Add Single Device with Install Code to the Network
The sequence diagram below shows how User can add a single device with install code to the network. This can be repeated for additional devices, adding one at a time.
Host is recommended to clear install codes prior to entering new ones.
Retry Commissioning Device After Device Failed To Join
The below sequence diagram shows how User can try to commission a device again after the device failed to join the first time. The install code is stored by Module so User does not need to re-enter it when opening the permit join window again.
Adding Multiple Devices Simultaneously With Install Codes to the Network
The sequence diagram below shows how a User can commission multiple devices simultaneously. The Module, depending on the hardware, dictates the max number of devices that can be commissioned simultaneously. Host can query this max with the serial frames Trust Center Install Code Max Count Request and Response. For Modules based on the EM357, the max is 3.
To add a list of devices that is larger than the max allowed, User shall add the devices in multiple rounds. For example, to add 5 devices while max allowed is 3, User should add 3 in the first round of permit join, then 2 in the second round.
It is recommended for Host to query for the max during startup synchronization phase. Host can use the max to configure the user interface.
Note: the diagram shows the serial communication when Serial Acknowledgement is enabled. If Serial Acknowledgement is disabled, Module would not send Status Responses of Success.
Error When Adding More Devices Than Max
The sequence diagram below shows that when User adds devices that exceed the max, Module returns an error. User should wait until having completed the commissioning of already-added devices before adding new ones. Alternatively, User can send Clear Trust Center Install Codes and add new ones.
