Which part of the network stack does RapidConnect handle? Is RapidConnect a replacement for the Silicon Labs stack?

In the OSI model, RapidConnect lives above the Zigbee PRO Networking stack provided by Silicon Labs. It provides an alternative to the application framework that Silicon Labs provides (App Builder). RapidConnect manages the network maintenance tasks and provides an interface to the Zigbee Application Layer.

RapidConnect improves on the Silicon Labs application framework in the following ways:

1. Provides a fully featured, configurable Application Layer that may be leveraged by any integrating device to interoperate with a ZigBee network.

2. Provides a superior interface to the ZigBee stack:

   1. Simplifies and abstracts complex functions, from creating endpoints and clusters, to joining or forming a network, to transmitting commands and performing attribute reporting, all for Rapid Integration.

   2. Goes “beyond the spec” to include superior solutions to common ZigBee networking problems encountered by MMB through nearly a decade of device-enablement experience.

   3. Provides built-in support for popular ZigBee-compliant channels and profiles like iControl, Control4 and Daintree.
