Will the serial library API provide bounds checking and input validation of input parameters to functions?

The API to the serial library uses types that are range bound, and will throw exceptions (i.e. in Java) if values are out of range.

Further, this is also handled at the application level. For example, an invalid value for a parameter in a frame transmitted by your application would result in a Status Response frame being passed up to you with status 0x02 (Invalid Data).
